You can speak English when you have time to prepare.
But those spontaneous discussions? Those still feel hard!
Introducing…
You can handle work emails. You manage meetings. You get through presentations when you’ve prepared.
But when colleagues start discussing the news, debating ideas, or talking about “that thing everyone has an opinion on”… you hesitate.
Not because you don’t have opinions. Not because you can’t speak English.
But because when there’s no time to prepare, no script to follow – everything you know seems to disappear.
You stay quiet when you have something valuable to say. You avoid deeper conversations. You feel like you’re always one step behind.
And it’s exhausting!
What Is The Discussion Space?
A weekly online session where international professionals discuss engaging topics in English, from current events to culture, technology to social issues, with people who completely understand what it’s like to live and work in an additional language.
This isn’t conversation practice where you have the same conversations about hobbies every week.
This is a space for discussion – real, spontaneous, meaningful, and in a supportive environment designed to build your confidence week by week.
What You’ll Gain
In the first 6 sessions:
- Confidence to express opinions without over-rehearsing
- Ability to jump into discussions more naturally
- Less translation, more spontaneous thinking
- Phrases for agreeing, disagreeing, and building on ideas
After 12 sessions:
- Genuine confidence in unscripted discussions
- Comfort with varied topics and unexpected questions
- Ability to think and speak at the same time
- Phrases to interrupt and build on other people’s ideas
After 24 sessions:
- True spontaneity – you stop translating all the time, you just discuss
- Confidence in discussing any topic even if you don’t know much about it
- Cultural fluency – you catch references, understand context much better
- The mental exhaustion? Greatly reduced!
How it works…
Before Each Session:
Every Friday, you’ll receive:
- A podcast on that week’s topic (15-20 minutes)
- Key vocabulary and discussion questions
- Time to think about your answers (but not script your answers)
So when you join the discussion session on Wednesdays, you’ll feel prepared, not panicked.
During The Session (60-75 minutes):
We meet every Wednesday at 6pm UK time
- Warm-up: Everyone shares one thought on the topic – structured, comfortable
- Open discussion: Natural conversation flows. You can practise sharing your opinion, building on ideas, disagreeing politely, sharing your experiences
- Feedback: We go through common mistakes I heard in the discussion, and we unpack British references, idioms, or cultural nuances that came up
- Weekly challenge (5 min): One simple thing to try in real life this week
After The Session:
You leave with:
- Confidence from actually doing the thing you were nervous about
- Phrases and patterns you heard others use naturally
- Connection with professionals on the same journey
What makes The Discussion Space Different?
What Makes This Different
It’s not generic “Conversation Practice”
We’re not sitting around asking “What did you do last weekend?” for the 100th time.
We discuss topics such as:
- The news story everyone’s talking about
- AI and its impact on work and society
- British culture nobody explains
- Social issues
- Books, podcasts, ideas your colleagues probably reference
Topics that require you to express opinions, not just make small talk.
It’s designed for professionals
Everyone here is like you:
- Can communicate in English but spontaneous discussions still feel hard
- Great at their job but tired of staying quiet when conversations get deeper
- Competent in prepared situations but struggle when put on the spot (with no time to prepare)
- International professionals working in the UK or overseas
No beginners. No basic English lessons. Just professionals who want to express their full thinking in English.
It’s actually supportive
This isn’t a competition, where the loudest voice wins!
I’ll ensure that:
- Everyone contributes comfortably
- Quieter voices get space to be heard
- The discussion stays engaging, not intimidating
- You’re challenged, not judged
You’ll leave each session thinking “I actually expressed my opinion” not “I forget everything again.”
Meet your Coach
Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m a certified Neurolanguage Coach® with over 18 years’ experience of helping people from all over the world to become fluent and confident English speakers.
